Delhi Capitals to come up with new Jersey for IPL 2019

The new season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is almost upon us. The one who got to be crowned champions last year, the Chennai Super Kings are up to defend their title with, runners up Sun risers Hyderabad are prepared to turn the tables this year and give them a fight for the crown.

One of the teams looking to upset the Super Kings are also the Delhi Capitals. The former Daredevils, which they were named until December last year, are looking to break their bad streak and make it to the playoffs for the first time in seven years. This year could also potentially be historic for the Capitals in case they make the finals, which this team has never done before.

One of the new that should rid the team of the old lack of success could be their new jersey, reveal on Twitter on February 23. The players who got to promote the jersey were the captain, Sheryas Iyer, Prithvi Shaw, batsman Shikhar Dhawan, as well as the young hope RIshabh Pant.

The team has stayed largely the same, retaining 14 players from last years abysmal season, and traded in one, the former Indian u-19 team representative Shikhar Dhawan. But the team still features some stellar athletes as their captain Iyer and the youngest captain in the history of this franchise, a national team regular. This right hand batsman is sure to lead his team to more wins this year. Two players who might aid him more then others might be Chris Morris and Rishabh Pant. Morris is a south African international, known for his aggressive batting and death bowling. Pant is one of the brightest young stars in Indian cricket, winning the Emerging Player of the year in 2018. His development might be the key for the Capitals title hopes this year.

Even if their chances aren’t the best this year, the Capitals have a young team full of potential. Who knows, with some luck on their side they could make great progress this season.

According the IPL 2019 schedule the season starts on March 23. You can follow the IPL 2019 live on Star India.
